You can be confident that our mobility procedure guarantees you the proper equipment for your needs while complying with insurance requirements.
BlueDot Medical will provide an initial assessment in your home with a rehab specialist trained to identify mobility needs and solutions. It will begin with a thorough evaluation of your medical history including symptoms, diagnoses, mobility issues, and limitations in daily activities along with desired future outcomes. Next, your particular home environment will be closely examined to make sure that it provides adequate access, maneuvering space, and surfaces to successfully operate a power wheelchair.
Next, is a seating evaluation with a physical or occupational therapist. They will review your medical history and home assessment findings and perform a physical exam documenting your strength, endurance, range of motion, coordination and performance level of Mobility Related Activities of Daily Living (MRADLs). Mobility equipment may be sampled to determine proper fit and assess if specialty options or accessories are required. A customized mobility product will be recommended.
A mandatory step in the process is that you attend an evaluation with your physician in person to discuss your need for a mobility device and/or mobility issues as the primary purpose of the visit. This face-to-face evaluation can be performed either before or after your initial home assessment or seating evaluation. A copy of the chart note from your mobility evaluation with your physician must be received by our office to proceed.
BlueDot Medical will provide your physician with the finalized paperwork for review and signature. Forwarded documentation includes the Letter of Medical Necessity provided from your seating evaluation, a Detailed Product Description of your recommended mobility equipment, and a seven element prescription. This signed paperwork is essential in establishing medical necessity and is forwarded by us to your insurance company.
The ordering and assembly process of your customized mobility product may take two to four weeks depending on the complexity of your power wheelchair. When your chair is ready, we will schedule immediate delivery to your home and provide a final fitting with extensive training and education in the product usage. BlueDot Medical values you as a customer and we will provide ongoing follow-up, service and maintenance throughout the lifetime of your mobility equipment.
